Most Beautiful Spots on the South Australian Coast

Coorong National Park

Got your campervan hire in Adelaide sorted? Great, time to hit the road! The South Australian coast is one of the most breathtaking in Australia and there are plenty of glorious hotspots that you can visit on your campervan journey.

Coorong National Park

Stretching for around 200km, the Coorong National Park is a beautiful wetland within the Limestone Coast, comprising of lakes, lagoons and the mouth of the Murray River. Fishing, boat cruising and 4WD-ing are all popular here, as is pelican watching at Pelican Point. Several caravan parks and camping grounds are also located throughout the park, allowing you to both sleep and explore!

Adelaide

As South Australia’s capital, Adelaide is definitely a city not to be missed. Adelaide’s best highlights include Glenelg, Victoria Square, Adelaide Zoo, the Botanic Gardens and the River Torrens, not to mention the city’s many museums and stunning beaches. Of course, Adelaide is also a fantastic gateway to the famed Barossa Valley.

Yorke Peninsula

Yorke Peninsula

Around an hour’s drive from Adelaide, the Yorke is an incredible coastal destination that offers pristine beaches and amazing views. Common activities on the Yorke include surfing, snorkelling, fishing and bush camping. If you can’t decide which part of the peninsula you’d like to visit, the Innes National Park down south is highly recommended.

Port Lincoln

Situated on the tip of the Eyre Peninsula, Port Lincoln is commonly known as the ‘seafood capital of Australia.’ Views from Port Lincoln overlook beautiful Boston Bay, with the captivating Lincoln National Park nearby. If you’re keen for a slice of adventure in the water, you can swim with sea lions in Port Lincoln or even go shark cage-diving (aim to book in advance).

Campervanning is easy here too and there are plenty of camping parks available.

The Nullarbor Coast

The Nullarbor is one of South Australia’s most incredible destinations and the coastline here is spectacular. Travelling along the Eyre Highway will take you through Port Augusta and across into the Nullarbor National Park, near the Western Australia border. Here, massive cliffs give way to extraordinary views of the Great Australian Bight and if you time your trip right, you might just get to watch the whales as they breed and give birth!
