6 Lake Street Cairns, Queensland 4870
Unlike many other museums in Australia, Cairns' version of a museum is depicted in 1950's era, housing a wide collection of local history, mining natural history, aboriginal culture and aboriginal art. The history of Cairns is well presented through pictures and static exhibits that explains a whole lot of what has been going on eversince. A small entrance fee is effected as the museum is operated on a voluntary basis only. There's a souvenir and gift shop nearby where you can find a selection of historical books, gifts and parafernalias as relic of your visit to Cairns. There are a few more museums to stride nearby, and the Cairns Historical Society Museum is just one of them.
