Pallamallawa affectionately known to its 400 locals as Pally, is a country hamlet just 30 kilometres east of Moree on the Gwydir River but services more than 1000 people on surrounding properties or in smaller communities.

The Golden Grain is just 150 yards from the Gwydir River and offers six hotel rooms and 24 caravan sites for the weary traveller. It has the atmosphere of any country pub where a visitor can go in as a stranger and leave as a mate. So proud are the locals of their achievement and traditions that historical photographs line the walls, as well as pictures and stories of locals who have made it good throughout the State or even on the world stage.
