Day 5 Punakaiki to Arthur's Pass

Continue to follow Highway 6 past Greymouth towards Kumara Junction and turn east on Highway 73 to Arthur's Pass Township. There are many walking tracks in Arthur's Pass National Park, from a quick 10 minute trek up to Avalanche Creek Waterfall to a more challenging tramping routes up to Mt. Bealey. Another popular track in Arthur's Pass is the Devil's Punchbowl Waterfall. Make sure to drop by or contact Visitor Centre in advance to check for local and weather advisories in the area.

Arthur's Pass Village has a very limited facilities for campervans & motorhomes, so make sure to book in advance if you're planning to stay for a night or more.

Day 6 Arthur's Pass

Explore Arthur’s Pass National Park. Recommended activities for families includes the Arthur's Pass Village Historic Walk and the Millennium Walk that will take you over to a bridge where you can see the iconic Avalanche Creek Waterfalls. Day 7 Arthur's Pass to Oxford

Stop by at Oxford before heading to Christchurch. Go kayaking in Ashley River or jet boating on the Waimakariri Gorge. Looking for a laid-back activity? Visit the Ribblesdale Gardens located at the corner of Oxford and Barracks Road or sample local produce at Oxford Farmers Market.

Day 8 Oxford to Christchurch

Christchurch is the second largest city in New Zealand and one of the top tourist's destination in South Island. Start your day with Punting on the Avon River, a popular activity in Christchurch that you don't want to missed. Enjoy a serene boat ride through the Avon River gently guided by an Edwardian punter. Then head over to Heathcote Valley and take the Christchurch Gondola for a 360 degree view of the city and the whole peninsula. Head back to downtown Christchurch and explore the Cathedral Square, then end your day with a good meal at one of the local restaurants in SoMo (South of Moorhouse Avenue).
