The West Coast Region Tour via Queenstown (Part II)

Don't miss the giant Salmon that welcomes you to the town of Rakaia. Just across the iconic Salmon is another popular destination for families visiting the town, Salmon World features fresh water aquarium, 4DMovie Ride and Salmon Tales Café. Fishing season is the best time to visit Rakaia and considered as the most popular activity in the area together with Jet boating in Rakaia Gorge.

Visit the renowned Church of the Good Sheperd located on the shores of Lake Tekapo. After a long drive you might want to sit back and relax at Tekapo Springs located at the base of Mt John. Go on a day tour at Mount John Observatory, the best stargazing site in New Zealand.

Upon arriving in Cromwell, head over to the i-Site Visitor Centre which also features the Cromwell Museum. Learn about the area's history through its exhibits and memorabilias. If you're ready to experience the Old Cromwell, proceed to the Old Cromwell Town Heritage Precinct located at the end of Melmore Terrace. Stroll along the historic precinct, then visit local botique shops and galleries. Try you hands at gold panning in  Goldfields Mining Centre or  have a well-deserved picnic at Lake  Dunstan, where you can also go swimming or boating.

Head to Bannockburn, located few minutes south of Cromwell. Explore the historic gold mining town and visit local vineyards. Dont forget to taste the world-class Pinot Noir of Bannockburn.

It's time to go back to Queenstown, follow the Queenstown Hill Time Walk that goes up to the summit of Te Tapunui for a great view of the township or take the famous Skyline Gondola that will take you at Bob's Peak to enjoy Maori performances, stargazing tour and Luge cart rides.
