“Doesn't like to go in reverse, the windows worked one day and not the next, the shifter & passenger side mirror were taped with electrical tape, and you couldn't open the side doors from the outside. Another issue we had was the "fridge", it froze everything, didn't matter if it was set to low or high, cool or freeze. We ended up having to throw out our entire first grocery purchase & items after that while we figured out a system that would work. ”

“We didn't get an Original Sleeper because the ferry had gone down and 9 vans were stuck on the South Island. They gave us a 1991 van that was hard to steer it had a standard transmission and 3rd gear was very difficult to get into. The roof leaked and the 3rd day the auxiliary batter literally blew up leaving us without inside lights and refrigerator”

“The vehicle air conditioning didnt work at all, the central locking didnt work, the passenger door couldnt lock with the key and had to be locked and unlocked from the inside, one of the tyres had to be re filled every 4 days as it was slowly leaking air, the fridge was either warm or only just slighlty cold we had to add our own ice to keep things fresh but apart from that the car was very comfortable to drive and was a great holiday ”

“The vehicle was easy to handle and performed well except for when the engine started smoking. The oil was located and checked and found to be empty. We added oil. The hitchhiking mouse? that ate a portion of our bagels. We learned to keep all edibles and trash inside the cooler. We named him Bernard. The van's best feature is the sun(moon) roof over the sleeping area. The worst is the barely functioning curtains. We loved it and now I want to buy one and tour the USA. We are Happy Campers!”

“Our first vehicle we were offered was not in good order mechanically even though we understand the age of their fleet for this price. However, after having battery troubles before leaving Auckland, we were given a better vehicle. Pleasant ladies at the checkout who will go out of their way to make sure things are good. All utensils, fridge and vehicle Air con were good.”

“The van was good, I guess, it had a bald front left tire and a thumping sound from the wheels when driven . The privacy curtains were an abomination, only one fit a window and actually have the snaps line up and work. In most cases the snaps on the curtain did not line up with the fittings on the vehicle. What a pain. Something better its required. There should be a 12dc outlet that is connected to the aux. battery for charging electronics at night. ”
