As a port city, there's no end to the family activities available in Halifax. In September, the Halifax Harbour Festival features sea music, chanteys, stories and a lot more. The Sackville Patriot Days offers parades, fireworks and a Teddy Bear Picnic, perfect for visiting families. Concerts and the Street Dance are also very popular. The International Buskerfest is another event the whole family can enjoy. For 11 days on the waterfront, street performers from all over the world gather on five separate stages to demonstrate amazing street theatre such as acrobatics, comedy, visual arts, fire shows and much, much more. It is estimated over 500,000 visitors come to see this, making it the oldest and largest buskerfest in Canada.

Cultural and Historical Events
The seafaring cultural side of Halifax is reflected in the Tall Ships Nova Scotia Festival, where ships from across the globe gather with Canadian ships to celebrate Halifax's maritime heritage. There's food, music and plenty of seafaring hospitality. The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo is the largest indoor show, with over 2,000 civilian and military performers. It's held every July. Representing the Scottish part of Halifax culture, the Halifax Highland Games Festival features competitions, the bag and pipes, plenty of food and crafts.
