World Punkin’ Chunkin’ Championships

From 8am till dusk in Long Neck, Delaware. Witness as generations of fathers and sons battle it out using ever-improving machines to blast pumpkins into the ether with spectacular (and messy) results. It’s none other than the World Punkin’ Chunkin’ Championship!

This three-day festival attracts thousands of spectators as custom-built machines launch one pumpkin after another into the sky. Every year, the distances gets longer and the ingenuity of the creators stretched further than the bow of a giant pumpkin catapult. See that pumpkin fly! And the best part of this championship? - the winner of the Chunkin’ for Charity Target Competition gets a donation to their choice of charity. There are two Youth categories - the 10 and under & 11 to 17.

But if you think these pumpkins go to waste, then you’re wrong. Remember that pumpkins are also edible, there is a pumpkin pie competition at the weekend. So that’s food and fun, what could be better than that? We recommend you stay at the festival campsite, too. Bring your gear, just making sure just in case the rain comes.
