The Wildfoods Festival is a celebration of the West Coast’s unique lifestyle, food and hospitality and takes place at Cass Square, a focal point in the centre of Hokitika.
Every year an extravaganza of gourmet bushtucker, based on the West Coast’s natural food sources, from the land and sea, is presented in an innovative manner! New wild foods are introduced every year and the emphasis is on novel, tasty and healthy wild food. Stallholders representing local community groups, producers, restaurants and suppliers, enable guests to experience the truly special “wildness” that is the South Island’s West Coast.
Come and visit, relax, kick back and enjoy the sights, sounds, smells and tastes which make up the sensory delight that is the Wildfoods Festival.
As always, there will be a variety of new foods to get your taste buds crackling! Alongside the staples of worm sushi and deep fried grasshoppers, there will be strawberries and cream, scallops, crepes, venison and SO much more!! Eat the gorgeous Huhu grubs.
