Blues Barbecue and Fireworks

Fireworks and barbecue! What could be better than this? On August 24 at Pier 54 witness the majestic Brooklyn Bridge, linking Manhattan and Brooklyn, and the amazing fireworks display. Catch free live blues by the water at Pier 54, part of the Hudson River Park’s annual summer of fun. Top bands play at this one-day mini festival and, to get things really sizzling a barbecue is thrown in too.

It promises artists featuring Kenny Neal & Billy Branch, Corey Harris, Guitar Shorty, and more. While you enjoy the music, dine in local BBQ restaurants and witness a spectacular fireworks display. The entertainment is free and the BBQ is reasonably priced, with selections from Daisy May’s BBQ, Smoked BBQ, Dinosaur BBQ and Rib and Spanky’s BBQ. The stage heats up at 2 p.m. and bands rotate till the sun sets for the fireworks display. The musical lineup kicks off with the Kelly Neal/Billy Branch Duo at 2:30 p.m., wraps up with Hubert Sumlin at 7:45 p.m., and also features Corey Harris and the 5×5 Band at 3:45 p.m., Guitar Shorty at 5 p.m. and Candye Kane at 6:15 p.m.
