Come and celebrate the 2008 Pohutukawa Festival when you’re at the Coromandel Peninsula. What’s a Pohutukawa? The Coromandel Pensinula’s celebrations of the Pohutukawa Tree, that’s what it is. A natural beauty and New Zealand icon. The festival kicks off with a “Red Hot” Party, where the dress code is fire-engine red like the Pohutkawa’s flowers. Throughout the festival period there are glass-bottomed boats that take a daily tour of coastal scenery and caves with, of course, stunning views of the Pohutukawa trees in bloom.
