Newport’s Christmas Boat Parade

This large and well-established Christmas Boat Parade sees more than 100 illuminated vessels cruising through the harbour of Newport Beach, south of Los Angeles.
Newport’s Christmas Boat Parade has been judged one of the top ten holiday events in the country by the New York Times. The boats promenade along a 14-mile route and range from modest small craft to imposing trophy yachts. Many are elaborately decorated, with outlandish Christmas decorations and squadrons of carollers. Over a million spectators turn out during the course of the event for the nightly parades that illuminate the Los Angeles’ town.
Beginning Wednesday, December 17 and ending Sunday, December 21, 2008. The parade starts off Bay Island at 6:30 pm and finishes at the same site at approximately 9:00 pm each evening. To celebrate this special 100th year, fireworks will light up the Newport skies at 6:25 pm from the Balboa Pier just before the start of the parade at 6:30 pm on Wednesday night (opening night).
Beautiful multi-million dollar yachts, kayaks, canoes and other small boats will light up the harbor as a dazzling array of holiday lights and music fill the air at the Christmas Boat Parade.
