PETROL PRICES
Motorhomes, campervans and 4WDs in Australia use either unleaded petrol (you may know as ‘Gas’ or ‘Gasoline’) or diesel.
Almost all petrol stations, also known as ‘service stations’ are serve yourself, where you pump your own and then go inside to pay.
Prices are between $1.15 AUD and $1.60 AUD per litre but range dramatically, being cheaper in cities and getting higher in the country and remote areas.
Be sure to check your map as there can be long distances between towns. There will sometimes be a sign saying how far to next petrol station. Make sure your tank is full if this is the case!
MONEY

One of the easiest ways to carry money in Australia is a debit card for use in ATMs or EFTPOS machines. These facilities are widely available across Australia and are the preferred choice for Australians also. You can use them in almost all stores, petrol stations and supermarkets. Be sure to check on the fees charged by your bank at home when you use your card in a foreign country and make sure you know your pin number.
Also easy to use are credit cards. They are widely accepted and you may find you need one if you are to leave a deposit for anything like a hire car or such.
Travellers cheques are easy to exchange and easy to replace if stolen or lost. Foreign cash can be exchanged but usually gets a slightly lower rate than travellers cheques. This can be done at all international airports in Australia, exchange bureaus and most banks.
Banks open Mon-Thurs 0930-1600 and Fri 0930-1700 with some variations.
Australian Dollar (AUD) = 100 cents.
Notes are in denominations of A$100, 50, 20, 10 and 5. Coins are in denominations of A$2 and 1, and 50, 20, 10 and 5 cents.
