“No hot water in shower, could not get it repaired for one week due to isolation. Mattress a disgrace,slept on the board, the springs totally collapsed. I suffered terribly with back and hip pain as a result!p The sheets clean but badly discoloured. The pillows so thin,it was like sleeping without a pillow! The water tank indicator lights said we has two tanks,but there was only one so we ran out and had to travel quite a distance to get more water. pThe engine indicator fault light came on constantly and we were assured it was the exhaust filter and to rev the motor to clear!! The battery was at the end of its life, luckily we bought our solar panel with us so we managed to keep everything going. The van had so many rattles it took sometime each drive to stuff sox and towels etc to make the journey bareable! The hand over did not prepare us for these problems and when we returned we had the impression they knew a lot of the problems we endured! We have learnt that Maui's become Britz when they get old, only wish we had had this made clear to us before we hired our first camper. We thought Britz had a good name. z ”

“ We had 7 days of not been able to shower or use the toilet because of a constant smell of urine. That van was replaced in Darwin which when we drove away from the depot the fan belt started sqealing and there was a knock in the front left steer wheel, we took that van back having that replaced, which related in a total of 5 hours lost. We were also not impressed by the insurance fee of $940 that we were never told about.”

“The vehicle concept is good. Especially the large bed makes it suitable for talk people. Realistic fuel consumption is 13.5 liters/100km. Unfortunately we first got a pretty warn out vehicle. Due to a A/C malfunction we had to change it after one week and lost half a day. The emergency number and the service backup from the offices in Menbourne and Sydney was engaged and committed. Thanks for that. Summary: watch out and check the vehicle carefully while taking it over.. ”

“We loved the experience of the campervan but not everything was as it should have been to make our trip the most enjoyable it could've been. The toaster didn't work, we didn't have a power cord supplied, the hose that connects to the water waste didn't fit, we weren't supplied with a pole to pull down the canopy on the side, there were screws coming lose on the door handle and where the table goes. The windows were hard to pull open and not good quality as parts were falling off. ”

“Vehicle was older than I thought it would be. Toilet was very smelly when we picked the vehicle up and needed a good clean. Inside of the awning full of debris when we first opened it. This should have been cleaned before we got the vehicle. Safe was locked and we were unable to use this. Again this should have been checked prior to us using the van.”

“We booked a Britz van and received a Maui van. The van had a broken shelf in the door which kept falling out once we put things in it, the water pump made an excessive noise and we had to keep filling it up - it had an airlock issue and only worked when completely full of water, so we carried water mostly, the bin lugs were broken and the bin kept falling out of the cupboardonce it had weight in the bin. The van drove OK. Beds were comfortable, gas stove was good, ample cupboards, linen was good”

“VW Crafter has no layout for fuses. The fuse for the radio blew and without a layout diagram you have to remove up to 40 fuses to locate the blown one or get it done by an auto electrician. ”

“Maintenance problems: cupboard door hinges need fixing. Curtains need cleaning. Hooks on curtains had to be replaced during our travels. TV cords were extremely dangerous. Exposed wiring. These were replaced by ourselves. This has been reimbursed by the depot in Perth. Break down telephone responses were very efficient in Kalgoorlie. ”

“Camper a bit tired in the interior resulting in drawers and the fridge door opening while driving. One draw came right out breaking 3 wine glasses plus another glass. We managed to jam them shut a certain amount which helped but if it was a rough road my wife had to stay in the back to keep shutting them. Nothing wrong with the cleanliness of the vehicle but quality wise it was pretty poor. ”

The third day, Campervan's "dynamos" has problem and cannot be repaired. After hard negotiation, Britz sent a campervan to replace it. The floor of second campervan is dirty.”

We were not given a lead to plug in to power at our destinations. We did not know that we had to switch off power if we were not plugged in so we had a flat battery.
