SS Yongala Wreck


Located about an hour’s drive from Townsville, Yongala Dive is a charter service that takes divers into deep waters to explore the incredible wreckage of the SS Yongala, which sank in a cyclone in 1911 and lay undiscovered for almost 50 years. The wreck is now home to thousands of different marine creatures, including stingrays, trevally and turtles, as well as an abundance of colourful coral.

Riverway


Spanning 11km along the shores of Ross River, Riverway is a beautiful parkland packed with sights and activities, including two swimming lagoons, skate parks for the kids and the captivating Riverwalk trail. The Riverway Arts Centre also hosts entertaining shows in its theatre, while Pinnacles Gallery is an artistic hub that is definitely worth a visit.

Reef HQ


Bringing the sites of the Great Barrier Reef indoors, this live coral reef aquarium is the world’s largest. Reef HQ showcases one of Australia’s most iconic sights through a variety of exhibitions, talks and tours. A highlight and crowd favourite is the shark feeding show.

Bowling Green Bay


This underdeveloped national park offers campervanners a rugged camping experience within an unforgettable wilderness setting. Alligator Creek is an established camp spot, but is only suitable for small campervans and tents. You’ll need to check with the size of your campervan will be suitable and organise a camping permit if you want to stay here. Other areas of the park remain mostly untouched, providing untamed bushland that will tickle anyone who loves the outdoors.

A caravan park for 50+ year olds only, Black River Stadium prides itself on its friendly atmosphere and extensive facilities, including toilets, showers, kitchens, gas BBQs, dump points and laundries.
