Alice Springs School of the Air was established in 1951 at the Flying Doctor Base to provide educational talks to children in the remote Outback through radio waves. In 2003 the school founded the IDL or Interactive Distance Learning to improve the quality of the learning experience, leading to more developments where applied.   • The Visitor Centre is open 7 days a week.
    Monday to Saturday 8.30am to 4.30pm
    Sunday & Public Holidays 1.30pm to 4.30pm

    Closed Christmas Day through to New Years Day (inclusive) and on Good Friday.
