What better way to celebrate the country than with Australia Day?! Australia Day brings all states, cultures, people and walks of life together. Celebrate the people, the land, diversity, indigenous cultures, freedom and democracy with hundreds of events throughout the country
Australia Day isn’t usually celebrated on the 26th of January. Not until 1994 did they begin to celebrate Australia Day consistently as a public holiday on that date. So you can be sure to mark your calendars whenever you visit Australia! At this point, there isn’t a specific location for the event to be celebrated. Why is that? Australia Day is for all kinds of people to enjoy, in and around Australia!
There are tons of events everywhere. To name a few: There’s the Blacktown’s Celebrations, Wollongong Celebrations and Penrith Celebrations in NSW. There’s the Australian Day Celebration at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne. The Australia Day kicks of with a Concert, Lunch, 10,000 Steps Walk, Multi-Faith Community and Flag Raising in Queensland! In Western Australia, there are community events from the House Gardens, to fireworks and more! Down in South Australia, there is the Australia Day Parade and concerts as well. In Northern Territories? There are sports carnivals and open celebrations! Picnics and parties at the Australian Capital Territory, and Tasmania even joining in as well!
We invite you to share in this spiritual and ceremonial beginning to Australia Day celebrations. No matter where you go, there’s something for you on January 26th! All you have to do, is drive on to the city you pick and have fun!
